One gamer has created a brutally honest critics trailer for Fallout 76 and it’s a hilarious and somewhat painful look at the response to the game. Bethesda’s latest installment in the Fallout franchise went for a new approach, becoming the first MMORPG in the series. In posts shared today by David Marcus, Facebook Messenger’s team lead, Facebook’s Messenger application will be seeing two new major changes to the chat application. The most noticeable of which is a new interface to the messenger application, and the new ability to begin group video chats. The update brings the app to version 100.0 just before the year’s end. The ability to use live masks within Messenger most likely comes from Facebook’s acquisition of MSQRD earlier this year....

New Facebook terms and conditions agreed with the European Union acknowledge that it would be liable in any future case like the Cambridge Analytica scandal … Facebook had previously argued that it did not permit misuse of user data, and that Cambridge Analytica broke its agreement with the social network when it mined data to help with the Trump presidential campaign and the Leave side of the Brexit referendum. The company’s new terms acknowledge that it would be liable in cases where it was negligent in failing to prevent misuse of data by a third-party company....

Meta announces that Facebook Messenger end-to-end encrypted chats and calls have even more features. Available for the past eight years, users had to choose between E2EE and having all functions available on a chat, but not anymore. According to Meta’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg (via The Verge), Facebook Messenger is now adding new features for end-to-end encrypted chats. As of default, Facebook Messenger chats aren’t end-to-end encrypted, which means you have to turn on this feature....

Facebook has been doing a lot of work to improve its mobile experiences, most notably the release of a faster, rebuilt native Facebook for iOS app in August and the more-recently promised timed release cycles for its mobile apps. Today, Facebook product manager Michael Sharon took to the company’s blog to share more on how it has retooled its development process and integrated features from its standalone apps into Facebook for iOS....

Back in October Facebook added the ability to edit posts and comments and also view all of your changes. However, at the time the feature was only available to iPhone users. Today iPad users can finally edit posts too with an update to the Facebook iOS app that just rolled out on the App Store. Also new in version 6.7 of the app is new languages for icons, but Facebook doesn’t list the specific languages in its release notes....

What’s most interesting about these fake iPhones is that they were made from real iPhone parts. The assumption is that the companies that made supplies for Apple would make additional parts and sell them to third parties who would somehow assemble a Frankenstein of iPhone and non-iPhone parts together and sell them at double the cost. It would be interesting and surprising if they got iOS working on these. I’m guessing a flavor of Android with a iOS-like skin was used....

Bethesda has permanently banned a group of Fallout 76 players after they made homophobic comments and attacks against other players in the game. The ban comes after one player posted a video of the offensive gameplay to social media, complaining about how the game lacks easy in-game player reporting. Fallout 76 has already earned its share of controversy for Bethesda. When first announced earlier in the year, players were skeptical about an online title based on the popular Fallout franchise....

Facebook has officially announced its new Messenger Day feature for iOS and Android after previously testing the Snapchat Stories clone with a limited number of users. Messenger Day is rolling out globally to Facebook’s Messenger app beginning today. Like Snapchat Stories and the many clones that have followed including Facebook-owned Instagram Stories, Messenger Day takes the format of sharing photos and videos with effects and annotations with friends for 24 hours....
